If you think you have lost something please communicate with Evonne Lawrence as soon as possible to prevent further fines.

If an item becomes 35 days overdue the item is considered lost and the borrower is charged the cost of replacing the item in addition to the accumulated overdue fines. Charges for lost items will appear on student finance records 35 days past the due date.

Replacement fees for physical books, scores, CDs, DVDs, or other information resources will be refunded if the materials are returned within one year of being charged. For laptops, no refunds will be provided 60 days after the borrower has been charged the replacement fee.

  • Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad): Request materials from another institution
  • Borrow from other Local Libraries: The Monroe Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with many local and university libraries for you to use. However, Coronavirus policies temporarily restrict borrowing from other Universities.
  • Request for Purchase: Ask the Monroe Library to purchase the materials you need.

If a student has a repeated record of not returning library equipment, or excessive fines for library equipment or room keys, the Monroe Library's Circulation Coordinator may limit that student's borrowing privileges until the beginning of the next semester. A student with limited privileges will only be able to check out books, scores, CDs, DVDs, or other physical information resources. The student will not be permitted to check out equipment or study rooms. This decision will be based on the judgment of the Circulation Coordinator, but will be based on repeated equipment fines or lost equipment, equipment or keys kept long overdue, or if a student has been charged to replace a laptop or other expensive equipment. In this case, the library is simply attempting to limit the student's and the library's liability and risk regarding equipment and room keys.

If the student feels that he or she has been given this status unfairly, he or she may appeal to the Associate Dean. This status will be applied during the semester and will automatically revert back to regular student status at the beginning of the following semester.

If you are a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and wish to borrow physical materials from the Monroe Library, please contact Evonne Lawrence to ensure first that your contact information is up to date. Access to Loyola's campus is currently restricted to students, faculty, and staff, but we we will attempt to arrange contactless pickup for alumni.
