Library Conducting Trial Subscription to Anchor Yale Digital Bible Commentaries
Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries available digitally, Nov. 10-Dec. 17
From November 10 to December 17, Monroe Library will be running a trial subscription to the Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries with the help of Bloomsbury Publishing. We know that many ministry and religious studies students and faculty (as well as other folks!) use biblical commentaries as an essential part of their research and scholarship. As a result, the library is looking to gauge support for subscribing to these high-quality commentaries year-round. This is the first time that Anchor Commentaries have been made available in a digital, easily searchable subscription format. So we’re interested to find out if offering these digital commentaries could help us support a population whose work is becoming increasingly remote.
While there are a number of online commentaries freely available, most are not of a high enough scholarly caliber for use in academic work. And scholarly commentaries that are available as ebooks tend to be prohibitively expensive. But having access to a multi-volume resource online makes it easier for users to view entries in different volumes at the same time. It also allows distance users immediate access. If this resource is one that could help with your research -- whether you’re a student, a staff member, or faculty -- we hope you’ll use the resource during the trial period to help demonstrate a need for it! Starting November 10, just look for the resource in the library’s Databases A-Z list. Send your feedback on the trial to the librarian liaison for LIM and Religious Studies, Dr. Victoria Elmwood, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
UPDATE: This trial has been extended to December 17, the last day of exams!
