Fall 2021 Updates
Welcome Back to the Monroe Library!
We’ve restored most of the privileges, services, and resources that you hopefully already know and love. Here’s a rundown of updates showing what’s back at the library and what we’re doing to keep everyone safe.
Yes, masking is still required! Regardless of vaccination status, everyone must wear a mask to enter and remain in the building, and it must be kept secured over the nose and mouth at all times. The only exception to this rule is if you are alone in a study room or office. No eating or drinking is allowed in the library unless you are alone in a study room or office. Please remember to disinfect the area with supplies provided nearby when leaving classrooms and study rooms.
Help with course reserves is available, as always. And print reserves are back.
We are booking seminar and multimedia rooms again!
The Learning Commons desk is now open and checking items out. Starting this semester, the desk will close at midnight on nights when the library stays open until 2 am. Items for checkout include print reserves, headphones, study rooms, and calculators. We have shifted our laptop lending model to a long-term loan program in order to support students with the greatest demonstrated need. Hotspots and iPads are also part of this program. Short-term laptop loans can be arranged through Media Services.
Our stacks (where the books live) are open now! The green caution tape is gone and free-range browsing is allowed. You can once again check out books the old-fashioned way (in person at the desk), but you can also place an on-shelf hold online and pick your items up at the desk later.
Special Collections and Archives is once again open for research, by appointment only.
Single Sign-On integration is almost here! Soon you will be able to log in to use electronic resources or the catalog through the SSO portal. You can also still log in directly through the library website. Hint: Electronic resources and the library catalog will each have their own separate tiles in the portal.
Visitors from outside the Loyola community are once again welcome so long as they adhere to our current policies on masking and food and beverages in the library. As before, non-Loyola borrowers must bring their special borrowing cards from their home institution.
