The campus classroom pool is a set of classrooms that are shared by all academic departments. Media Services is responsible for the audio-visual and presentation equipment in these classrooms. Keys for accessing the equipment are available for checkout in the library's Learning Commons. Equipment instructions are in the rooms and are also available for download via the links below. Please contact Media Services, 504-864-7120 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you need help using this equipment or if you find a problem.
Scheduling these classrooms is handled by the Office of Student Records.
All classrooms in the pool have wireless Internet access and at least one active Ethernet jack for wired access.
Presentation equipment installed in these classrooms falls into three categories: Enhanced, Standard, and Basic.
Enhanced classrooms have state-of-the-art presentation equipment. At the heart of each room is the instructor's podium which contains a variety of equipment for using technology while teaching. All media is projected via a ceiling-mounted data/video projector. The podium includes a desktop computer, DVD/VHS or Blu-ray player, and laptop connections; most contain document cameras. A touch-sensitive control panel brings the equipment into the hands of the instructor.
Keys for the equipment podiums can be checked out from the library's Learning Commons desk. As always, to report a problem with this equipment, please contact Media Services at 504-864-7120 or email@example.com.
Standard classrooms have a data/video projector or large-screen TV monitor, laptop inputs, and a VCR/DVD player in a lockbox. To access the VCR/DVD, you must check out a key from the library's Learning Commons desk. Some Standard classrooms have wall-mounted control systems, which allow you to switch between the laptop and the VCR/DVD player, control volume, and turn the image off. Some Standard classrooms use the projector's remote control to switch between the laptop and the VCR/DVD player. The Standard classrooms with large TV monitors allow you to switch using buttons on the TV or the remote control.
Basic classrooms have a television, an overhead projector, a screen, and a VCR/DVD player which is usually in a lockbox. To access the VCR/DVD, you must check out a key from the library's Learning Commons desk.
All classrooms are listed below with their categories and downloadable instructions. We suggest that you download the instructions below for the classroom(s) in which you are teaching, and take them to the room prior to teaching there. Note that the document camera instructions are downloaded separately. Media Services staff would be happy to meet you in the room to show you how to use the equipment and answer any questions.
