Currently enrolled Loyola students may borrow laptops from the Monroe Library. Thanks to generous donations made by Loyola parents, we have a pool of 12 laptops running Windows XP. These laptops offer software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as full Internet connectivity.
Each laptop is loaded with Microsoft Office 2000, Roxio Easy CD Creator, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Real Player, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft FrontPage 2002 and, WS FTP 95. Laptops are equipped with a wireless networking card and are ready for wireless access to Loyola’s network from within the library. The laptops are configured to work with other equipment, such as digital cameras, that students may check out from Media Services.
Please note:
- Laptops are secured and must remain within the building.
- They may be checked out from the Learning Commons desk on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis.
- The loan period is a maximum of four hours at a time.
- A student’s Loyola ID is required.
- All student laptops are equipped with a DVD-ROM/CD-R/W drive, but do not include a floppy drive. External floppy drives are also available for check-out.
- As always, do not leave files on the hard drive; they will be erased.
- The overdue fine for student laptops is $10 per hour and the replacement fee is $2,500.
