For Credit Courses

You can learn how to do library research, create a blog, update a wiki, and much more in the library's for-credit course, Library Research 2.0. This one-hour course covers library research skills including

  • topic selection
  • search strategy development
  • selecting and using library databases, catalogs, and websites
  • citation formatting

Throughout this process students will learn technology skills to support the research process, including

  • citation management software
  • footnoting
  • table-of-contents creation
  • excel spreadsheets
  • creation of web-based research portfolios

The class will also explore the incorporation of web 2.0 technologies into library research, including RSS feeds, blogs, wikis, Flickr, YouTube, and social bookmarking applications.

This 8-week course is offered twice in the fall semester. The course number for the first 8-week session is SPST-A194-A51, and the course number for the second 8-week session is SPST-A194-Z51.
