The mission of the Monroe Library's Teaching & Learning Team is to provide the Loyola University New Orleans community with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively identify, find, evaluate, create, share, and use information for academic success, and also to support lifelong learning; this information literacy includes educational technology as well as technology in general. Our team is committed to instruction that respects all learners and learning styles, emphasizes active learning, and incorporates the latest trends in technology and pedagogical approaches.

The Monroe Library follows the ACRL Standards for Information Literacy when designing instructional materials. Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."
