The Archives for the New Orleans Province, Society of Jesus are housed in the Monroe Library at Loyola University New Orleans. The collection dates from the return to Louisiana of the Jesuits in 1836, and includes some copies of documents form the Colonial Period preceding the Society's suppression in 1763.

The collection tells the story, not only of the parishes and institutions founded by the Jesuits, but it contains the history of Catholicism throughout the ten southern States of the Province.

Researchers are welcomed by appointment only.

For more information email Joan Gaulene at jegaulen@loyno.edu or call 504-864-7095. A guide to the library's holdings related to Catholicism and the South can be found here.
