How do I Use Indexes From Off-campus?
The Monroe Library subscribes to these electronic services for use by Loyola's faculty, staff and currently enrolled students.
There are two methods you can use to access these services from off-campus. Both methods require that you have a Loyola Internet account. If you do not know your Internet account information, you can obtain it by going to the Information Technology Department's Client Services Office on the fifth floor of Monroe Hall.
Students enrolled in the LIMEX, OCLP or MQM distance learning programs can contact Distance Library Services at distlib@loyno.edu for account info.
Loyola's PPP service
If you have a Loyola Internet account, and a modem on your computer, you can instruct your computer to dial into the Internet through Loyola's PPP service. This method simulates a network connection over a phone line. It is like using Loyola's network from on campus, so you won't need passwords to access Loyola services. For instructions on setting up your computer, see PPP Connection Instructions for Win95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP for Windows users or PPP Connection Instructions for Macintosh for Macintosh users.
Proxy Server
If you are using a commercial Internet Service Provider, such as AOL or BellSouth, or if you have a DSL or cable modem, you can still use these library services from off-campus. When you click on a link to one of these services, you'll be prompted for your Loyola Internet account username and password. Once you've entered these, the system will recognize you as a valid user and let you continue your research!
