Reminder: don't leave your valuables unattended

Please don’t leave your valuables unattended while you’re studying in the library. It only takes a second for someone to walk away with your laptop, cell phone, textbook, or backpack.

Laptop cable locks are available for checkout at the Learning Commons Desk, and for sale at the Loyola Bookstore.

Good luck on your finals and have a wonderful summer.

Now in effect: Group Study Room Two-ID Finals Policy

It’s super busy these days in the Monroe Library. Students and faculty are hard at work finishing projects, researching, writing papers, and preparing for finals. People are a little tense and a little giddy, knowing that the last days of the semester are just around the corner. The Monroe Library is gearing up too. Our extended study period will begin on Sunday, April 25 and the group study policy changes April 18. Here’s what you should know:

Groups Study Rooms for Groups-Only Policy

  • The two-ID policy runs from Sunday, April 18 to Friday, May 7.
  • All of the rooms switch over to group-use only. A group is considered two or more people (up to six in most rooms).
  • Studying solo? Sorry, the rooms are for groups only through May 7. (See more below)
  • At least two members of the study group must be physically present at the Learning Commons desk to check out a room.
  • We will ask two members of your group to leave their Loyola IDs to check out the room.
  • Anyone with more than $5 in fines will have to pay the fine before checking out a room.
  • Because these rooms are in such high demand, the rooms cannot be renewed. Please don’t switch around IDs, it’s not fair, really, it’s not nice.
  • No reservations. Rooms are first come, first serve.
  • Security is important: Make sure the room is locked when you leave, do not leave your valuables unattended. Watch your stuff!
  • Remember… the second and third floors are quiet study spaces, and group study rooms are not sound proof ;-)
  • To our students who like quiet and enjoy using the study rooms during the regular semester: There are hundreds of seats in the Monroe Library waiting for you. The second and third floors are designated Quiet Study Areas. If someone is disturbing the peace or making a ruckus, let us know at the Learning Commons desk, we will ask individuals to be quiet, we will ask individuals to leave too.
  • Report any problems to the Learning Commons desk or email us at libref@loyno.edu

More on extended study time in the Monroe Library to come.

    Good luck on your finals!
