Postcards of Louisiana’s Catholic Sites
The Special Collections & Archives Department of the Monroe Library has recently uncovered a collection of historic postcards featuring numerous Catholic sites and structures from around the state of Louisiana. These postcards date from the early 1900s and feature both black and white images and hand colored images, as well as artistic renditions of the featured sites.
A large portion of the collection features sites and structures here in New Orleans. You may recognize some of them!
The backside of the above postcard featured a tagline for the city: “New Orleans – America’s Most Interesting City.”
