Work-study positions in the Monroe Library Fall 2009
ADMINISTRATION
Pick up, sort and deliver mail. Provide clerical and other office assistance. Assist in creating and maintaining databases and other records. Assist in routine maintenance inspection and reporting. Student workers in this area learn valuable business and communication skills.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN (ILL)
Receive articles that come through the Monroe Library’s Interlibrary Loan service. Required to work a minimum of 3 hours every weekday to ensure that requested materials are delivered in a timely manner. ILL students are detail and research-oriented employees.

LEARNING COMMONS
Are you good with technology and enjoy helping others? The Learning Commons might be the place for you. Provide basic circulation, research, and technology assistance in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Excellent customer service skills required. We are also looking for students who will work in the Common Grounds Café.

MEDIA SERVICES
Deliver equipment and assist faculty and students with the use of technology in the library and in campus classrooms. Help users with image and document scanning, CD-Rom recording, and audio-visual equipment. Help users with room reservations and equipment loan. Assist team members with a variety of projects. Technology skills and excellent communication skills required.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS AND ARCHIVES
Assist the Archivist in preserving, arranging, and describing manuscript material and university records and in providing reference service. Answer telephone and provide routine reference service for patrons. Perform routine tasks in preparing manuscript material and university records.

STACKS
Assist in shelving books in the library collection. Locate missing materials. Aid in keeping the library orderly by shelving materials found around the library. Detailed-oriented, organized, and curious, Stacks students ensure that library materials are where they are suppose to be so that our users can easily find the books, journals, music, and videos they need.

TEACHING & LEARNING
Assist instructional technologists and librarians with online learning. Help in the development and support of online course content and maintenance. Work may include digital photography, scanning, narrated PowerPoints, and other applications. Great people skills and technology experience a must.

TECHNICAL SERVICES

Unpack materials, check invoices, and search catalog. Assist with receiving of bindery shipments and shelving of bound periodicals. Do some minor repair of books and create boxes for brittle materials. Assist Cataloging Specialist with cataloging statistics. Perform some database maintenance in the library’s online catalog. Barcode books.

*Available hours indicate the hours our student employees are typically scheduled to work. Students normally work 1-3 hours per day; you will create your schedule with your direct supervisor.
