The first floor of the Monroe Library is known as the Learning Commons, a collaborative space where students, faculty, and staff can come together to study, learn, teach, create, and socialize. At the Learning Commons desk, you can get assistance with standard circulation, reference, and technology questions. Users wanting or needing more in-depth knowledge are connected to appropriate experts, materials, programs, or workshops.
The Learning Commons encourages engagement with information in its various forms, reinforces the value of collaborative inquiry, creates new opportunities for community interaction, and supports student success at Loyola. The Learning Commons builds on existing partnerships with individuals, departments, and centers on campus, such as Information Technology, the Center for Teaching & Learning, and Writing Across the Curriculum.
The Learning Commons is a work in process, and we are continually updating the space and services available. To see images from our latest Roctober Makeover, go to our Flickr site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/monroelibrarylc/. We hope you check back often and join the conversation.
