Dean Poole joined the faculty of Loyola University New Orleans in 1988. She became Dean of the Libraries in 2016 where she leads faculty and staff in strategic and budgetary planning, personnel administration, project management, and fundraising. Dean Poole has received grants and awards for her service and program development from the American Library Association, the Loyola University Senate, and the Loyola University Office of Grants and Research. Her research focuses on the role of libraries in student retention, library learning spaces, information literacy, and assessment. Her expertise in these areas is currently manifested by her leadership in the establishment of new online programs at Loyola.

An active member of the library community, most recently Dean Poole was voted Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Louisiana Digital Consortium Executive Board and also served on the planning committee for the 2017 Association Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Library Deans & Directors Conference.

Poole’s previous title at Loyola was as Associate Dean for Public Services. Under her direction both in that role and as Dean, the Monroe Library has regularly been featured as one of the top twenty “Best College Libraries” by the Princeton Review.
