Michael Truran joined the Monroe Library as the Public Services Librarian in 2014. He is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington’s School of Library and Information Science, and is an alumnus of Loyola University New Orleans.

His scholarly interests center on virtual reference and other aspects of distance librarianship. To this end, Michael serves as the Monroe Library’s Virtual Reference Coordinator for the Association of Jesuit Colleges and University’s Virtual Reference Project. He has also served on the AJCU VR Project’s Steering Committee as Scheduling Coordinator.

Michael teaches an asynchronous online course, Research & Technology 2.0, that teaches students critical issues, emerging technologies, and practical techniques relevant to the research process.
