Bio

Elizabeth Joan Kelly is the Digital Programs Coordinator at the Monroe Library at Loyola University. She has been employed at the library since 2010 and manages the library's digital programs including digital collections and preservation, digital scholarship, scholarly communications, and library web services. Her research interests include digital library and archives assessment, particularly the reuse of digital library objects, as well as library pedagogy. Recent publications on these subjects include articles in the The Journal of Web Librarianship, The Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies, College & Undergraduate Libraries, Collection Management, Performance Measurement and Metrics, and Archival Practice, among others. Elizabeth has also presented widely on these topics at both national and international conferences and annual meetings.

As the librarian liaison to Digital Filmmaking, Mass Communication, Music Industry, and Popular and Commercial Music, Elizabeth offers research and technology instruction. She has been an embedded librarian or co-instructor for Introduction to Music Industry Studies and Technology for Music Students and the instructor-of-record for Research & Technology 2.0. She has also provided specialized archives and digital scholarship instruction for a variety of classes, from the First Year Seminar “Walking New Orleans” to the graduate-level music course Introduction to Graduate Studies.

Elizabeth is a Certified Archivist (Academy of Certified Archivists) and a Digital Archives Specialist (Society of American Archivists). She co-founded the Digital Library Federation interest group for Digital Library Pedagogy and is a member of the Institute of Museum and Library Services grant-funded projects "Developing a Framework for Measuring Reuse of Digital Objects" and "The Digital Content Reuse Assessment Framework Toolkit (D-CRAFT)."

In 2018 she won “Favorite Learning with LOUIS” award for outstanding webinar from LOUIS (the Louisiana Library Network) along with Laurie Phillips, and in 2019 the article "Barriers and solutions to assessing digital library reuse: preliminary findings," co-authored with Genya Morgan O’Gara, Liz Woolcott, Caroline Muglia, Ayla Stein, and Santi Thompson, received an Outstanding Paper Literati Award from Emerald Publishing.

Prior to her career as a librarian, Elizabeth earned degrees in music composition and has won awards for her electronic, instrumental, and vocal music. Her music can be heard on her personal website at elizabethjoankelly.com.
